- writing: the kids did well with the Lincoln writing last week. We will continue working on pulling information from text and using it as a source for writing through the end of the school year. This is an important skill for them to know for their continued success in school
- comprehension: we are beginning a new text called Change Makers. The objectives we will be focusing on are identifying the main topic, describing the connections between a series of events, using images to augment understanding of text, identifying key details, and asking and answering questions.

April 11-15

- writing: finish up paragraph on Theodore Roosevelt
- writing: begin assessment paragraph on Abraham Lincoln - we will read two texts about Abraham Lincoln. Students will need to pull information from these selections and write an 8 sentence paragraph about Abraham Lincoln.
- math vocabulary: shapes (pentagon, hexagon, quadrilateral, triangle, and cube)
- comprehension: reading selections on Abraham Lincoln
April 4-8
- phonics: exceptions to murmur diphthongs
- phonics: decoding multi-syllabic words
- phonics: digraphs gn, wr, ph, kn, and ck
- phonics: digraphs with plural endings and multi-syllabic words with digraphs
- writing: begin new informational writing piece (we will be pulling information from the book we read about Theodore Roosevelt to write about about him)
- comprehension: compare and contrast Theodore Roosevelt and Marching with Aunt Susan
- comprehension: read Lincoln (a poem) - objective: to describe how words supply meaning in a poem
- comprehension: discuss and determine author's purpose in the three texts we have been reading
March 14-18
- phonics: murmur diphthongs ar, er, ir, or, & ur
- phonics: assessment on murmur diphthongs
- phonics: roots, prefixes, & suffixes
- writing: begin new informational writing activity - we will be researching an animal, reading books about that animal, and pulling information from the books to use in our writing.
- reading: use Theodore Roosevelt book to learn more about text features and how readers use them to find information quickly (objective: readers understand that illustrations in literary texts and specific features in informational texts can help them understand what they read).
- science: the blue class began investigating states of matter last week (the red class is doing it in Spanish class), and we will continue that investigation throughout this week.
We are having our annual Leadership Day on Wednesday, March 16th. We will have an opening assembly at 1:00, and then you will be able to tour the school to learn more about how students at Bridger are learning to be leaders.

- phonics: assessment (synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homonyms, decoding 2 syllable words, spelling multi-syllabic words that end with /k/)
- phonics: murmur diphthongs AR, OR, & ER
- writing: continue working on our shared version of informational writing (we are writing about things to do in Logan)
- reading: continue reading Theodore Roosevelt (this ties in with our informational writing - students are learning about how to pull information from a text and use it as facts/details in writing)
We haven't set new AR goals yet (we don't know what date to put in since we haven't been able to get hold of anyone at the Aquatic Center to confirm that as the reward), but they can still take tests that will count towards the new goal when it is set.
