April 18-22

Unfortunately, I have to take another sick day; I have a fever of 102 and don't think I'll make it in tomorrow.  This has not been a healthy year for me.  Mrs. Meredith will be there.  She has subbed for me before so the kids will know who she is.  Here is what we will be working on this week:
  • phonics: spelling with k, ke, ck, and c
  • phonics: decoding exceptions (there are so many in English!)
  • phonics: suffixes tion, sion, and ous
  • phonics: letter combinations that split (sc, sk, sp, st, gn, nk, and ng)
  • writing: the kids did well with the Lincoln writing last week.  We will continue working on pulling information from text and using it as a source for writing through the end of the school year.  This is an important skill for them to know for their continued success in school
  • comprehension: we are beginning a new text called Change Makers.  The objectives we will be focusing on are identifying the main topic, describing the connections between a series of events, using images to augment understanding of text, identifying key details, and asking and answering questions.
Thank you for your continued support at home.
We had two days last week when everyone was in school.  That hasn't happened in awhile.
