Welcome to a new week! Here is what we will be working on in English this week:
Response to Literature: Maps - pulling information from text, then using that information to write a paragraph
Writing assessment: What is your favorite animal? Why?
Phonics: action verbs
Phonics: linking verbs
Phonics: subject/verb agreement
Phonics: helping verbs
Math: coin recognition - pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters (this is not part of our core, but working with coins is, and we have found from past experience that most students still cannot recognize the coins and their values at this point in second grade - so we need to cover it so they can successfully work with coins. It would help tremendously if you could also go over pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters at home!)
Daily 5/Power Hour: continued practice in reading, spelling, and comprehension
